GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR QUOTING AND RUNNING OF WORK NEEDING FOIL BLOCKING:

SHEET SIZE:
max 750 x 560mm
SHEET SIZE: min 100 x 100mm
GRIP & LAY: (From edge of sheet to start of image area)
MIN GRIP: 15mm (from short edge)
MIN LAY: 30mm (from long edge) Or vice versa
PRINT AREA: 700 x 500mm

Thes figures are a generalisation only, please do not hesitate to ring us if something different is required.

When running register work up to a3 size, Platen lays must be used; (this usually requires the off lay to be used on modem offset machinery). A2 size and larger on our larger Platen requires near side lay. (See diagrams on left)

For accurate quoting we require: 1. Sheet size
  2. Print area
  3. Stock
  4. Over ink or laminate etc.
  5. Quantity

Time must be allowed for the ink to harden properly. With foil printing one of the main problems we have is with ink not being dry. When the ink is not totally hard the foil will key onto the ink and pull it off the sheet.

As with laminating, powder spray must be kept to a minimum. Spray on the surface of a sheet will stop the foil from keying on properly or leave a sandpaper like result.
